Teen essay prompts about cooking and eating
Whether your teens would rather join in for cooking or for eating, these essay writing prompts will have them thinking about food in a fresh way.
1. It’s All in the Family
What’s your favorite family recipe? Research its origin by asking family members. Document what you learn about the background of the recipe, list the key ingredients, and give step-by-step directions for how to make it.
2. None for Me
In a short expository essay, write about the type of dietary restriction you think would be the hardest to live with. Explain why.
3. It’s Our Specialty
What regional dish is your area famous for? After you research this food, write about its origins and explain ways to prepare it.
4. Eww! Gross!
What is a food you absolutely hate? Think about what makes it such an unpleasant thing to eat. Write a persuasive essay to convince the person in your house who does the most cooking not to ever make that dish again.
5. Eat This, Not That
Have you noticed? Healthy eating is a hot topic these days. What changes could your family make to improve their diet? Explain the best ways to implement those changes and give examples of positive effects that might result.
