WriteShop Primary Is Easy and Fun!

WriteShop Primary

WriteShop Primary is an exciting, parent-guided writing curriculum with daily, easy-to-implement activities.

A flexible, gentle program, full of variety and creativity for the young writer … Since early lessons can be entirely oral on the part of the child, there is no pressure, only the opportunity to talk about things that are familiar to him as he watches Mom write down his words. –Shannon Cullip, AK, homeschool mother of four

WriteShop Primary uses hands-on activities to teach writing at the simplest level. Not just for beginning writers, it’s also perfect for children who can’t write a word!

Watch Your Young Writer Blossom!

WriteShop Primary’s creative activities produce ideas and smiles. When you start teaching simple skills at a young age, they won’t fear and hate writing later on. When fun replaces fear, their confidence will soar.

Divided into 8 Activity Sets, lessons fully cover a topic without hurrying the child. Lots of examples make teaching easy. Each Activity Set helps you gently model and teach writing.

Even at this young age, kids can learn that writing is a process made up of several steps:

1. Planning

Familiar topics, simple graphic organizers, and gentle parent guidance help unlock your child’s creative ideas.

2. Writing

Assignments grow from 3-5 sentences in Primary Book A to simple paragraphs in Books B and C. Lessons build one step at a time. When a child can’t write without help, let them dictate to you. As skill and confidence grow, they’ll begin to write more independently.

3. Editing

From the first lesson, children learn that editing is a natural part of writing. At the Primary level, you simply talk about what they wrote. You’ll learn to gently guide and encourage, focusing on the positive.
