It’s fun to take inspiration from a photo, especially when it features LEGO® action figures! Your kids will love these six LEGO® minifig writing prompts that invite them to create thrilling stories of adventure in exciting or exotic settings.

LEGO® Minifig Writing Prompt #1. A Knight’s Tale

This knight has come upon a city in ruins. What happened? Where have the people gone? What does he find in the abandoned city? What adventure still awaits our brave knight? Tell his tale.

LEGO® Minifig Writing Prompt #2. Incident at LEGO® Café

Things have been quite busy at the café today. What happened when the waiter tripped? What food was spilled? Did someone get mad? Who helped clean up? Did they find anything surprising under the table? Write a dialog that takes place between the waiter and the customers.

LEGO® Minifig Writing Prompt #3. Tropical Travels

Imagine that you are on vacation in a tropical paradise. Did you visit a volcano? Learn to surf? Paddle around in a kayak? Explore a hidden beach? Write a journal or diary entry in which you describe one or two of your adventures. Think about colors, textures, sounds, smells, and flavors, using your senses to add vivid details to your journal.

LEGO® Minifig Writing Prompt #5. Slap Shot … or Missed Shot?

This prompt is perfect for hockey fans! Pretend that you are the voice of the Mad Dogs hockey team. As the team’s play-by-play announcer, describe the action that’s taking place in this photo. Who is the player? What obstacles is he facing? Call the play in detail, remembering that radio fans can’t see what’s happening on the ice. Here’s your opening line:

There’s 5:15 left in the third period and the Wildcats lead the Mad Dogs 2 to 1….

More Lego Fun!

When your children are LEGO®  fanatics, it’s a win-win when you use bricks to teach homeschool subjects. My son loved when we included some LEGO fun in his school day. Math, writing, and Bible can come to life for a reluctant learner when you add bricks to the mix!

If you enjoyed these exciting LEGO® writing prompts, be sure to check back each week for more Writing Prompt Wednesdays.
